A Thank-You, a Pause, and a Gift

As the year draws to a close, I want to pause for a moment and simply say thank you.

LeadershipLens started as a way to share ideas, challenge assumptions, and offer practical tools for leaders navigating an ever-changing world. What keeps me showing up each week is you—HR professionals, L&D specialists, coaches, team leaders and executives who genuinely care about building better workplaces and better human connections.

Your support, your replies, your forwards, and your willingness to experiment with new ways of leading mean the world to me. I’m deeply grateful that you choose to spend a few minutes of your week with these reflections and insights.

The gift of giving (and choosing how we give)

This time of year puts a big spotlight on one idea: giving. But giving doesn’t always need to come wrapped with a bow.

My partner and I decided not to exchange gifts this Christmas (or any Christmas in fact). Instead, we’re giving each other something far more precious – meaningful time with the people we love and space to travel, unwind, and reconnect.

At Intact Teams, we also made a conscious decision again this year to skip printed Christmas cards. Rather than adding to the recycling pile, we’ve chosen to donate to The Smith Family to support children who need a little extra help. It’s a small gesture, but it feels aligned with who we are and what we stand for.

Giving can be financial, emotional, relational, or simply the gift of our attention. Leaders especially know how powerful presence can be.

A gentle invitation to pause

Before you rush into the final stretch of the year, I invite you to take a breath and reflect:

  • What matters most to you right now?

  • How do you want to show up for the people around you?

  • Is there a different or more meaningful way you’d like to give? To others or to yourself?

In the whirlwind of deadlines, deliverables, and celebrations, it’s easy to slip into autopilot. This is your reminder that it’s not only okay to slow down: it’s necessary.

Wishing you a season of rest, connection, and safety

Whether you’re celebrating Christmas, another tradition, or simply taking a well-earned break, I hope this season gives you space to reset.

Take care of each other. Look after yourself. And stay safe wherever you are in the world.

Thank you again for being part of the Leadership Lens community. I’m excited to continue the journey with you in the new year.
